Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

Casino West Public School is meeting the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy

The NSW School Canteen Menu Check Service recently provided the following results:

Of the foods and drinks checked on the canteen menu, they found that:

• Sugar-sweetened drinks (included frozen varieties and jellies) and energy drinks are not for sale in our school canteen.

• Occasional packaged foods and drinks have a Health Star Rating of 3.5 stars or above.

• Portion limits are met for Occasional foods and drinks and Everyday flavoured milk and 99% fruit juices.

• At least ¾ (75%) of the menu are Everyday foods and drinks and no more than ¼ (25%) of the menu are Occasional food and drinks.

• Only Everyday foods and drinks are actively promoted in meal deals and specials. Occasional foods and drinks are not placed on the countertop at the point of sale.

At least ¾ (75%) of the master menu contains Everyday foods and drinks and no more than ¼ (25%) of the menu are Occasional foods and drinks.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

Hiring our facilities

You may apply to use our school’s facilities for appropriate purposes provided your hiring of the facility doesn't interfere with our teaching and learning programs.

Rainbow Region Kids - Vacation Care at Casino West Public School

Rainbow Region Kids logo

Rainbow Region Kids - Vacation Club uses Casino West Public School facilities during NSW school holidays.

In case you don’t know, Rainbow Region Kids is not-for-profit, externally accredited and childcare subsidy approved, ensuring quality and affordability for parents. You can read more about Vacation Club on their website.
