    What is National Sorry Day?

    • National Sorry Day is observed on May 26 each year to commemorate the Stolen Generations, the Indigenous Australian children who were forcibly removed from their families and communities between the mid-1800s and 1970s.

    • It marks the anniversary of the tabling of the Bringing Them Home report in the Australian Parliament in 1997.

    •

    • It is a time for reflection, mourning, and healing, as well as a reminder of the ongoing work that needs to be done to address the lasting impacts of these past injustices and to promote reconciliation.
